Who Will Watch The Home Place
From an early age, alone and with my friends, I loved to explore old building sites and abandoned homes. As a way to instill life into these aging structures, my friends and I created stories of its inhabitants, the lives they led, and the challenges they faced. In our imaginations we discovered a deep respect for the past and became a part of that past. I like to believe that these explorations helped seed within us a richer respect for those who came before. The images in this gallery represent a few of the abandoned buildings within the United States I discovered. As you view these, you may begin to see the beauty in the aging places or those vacated or forsaken.
A secondary aspect of this gallery is my use of the Illustrator function of my compact digital camera. Illustrator brings a different visual to aging buildings. I believe it enhances their lines and character. It sets the images apart from traditional digital photography.
